In the Waiting Times
Lord,
What is it you have for me to “wait” for? Psalm 27:14 tells me: “Wait for the Lord, be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
One thing I know I can do is to rejoice and praise you while I wait. You have told me not to be anxious, but in all things, by prayer and supplication, to make my requests known to you. (Philippines 4:6). I also know that in all things, you will supply what I need. (Philippines 4:19)
So while I wait in your promises, I will stand and rejoice. (Philippines 4:4) For you are a promise keeper. (2 Corinthians 1:20) Your Word proclaims your truth to me. (Psalm 119:160)
You have also taught me to hide your Word in my heart so that I may not sin against you. (Psalm 119:11) So in the waiting, I will dig deep into your Word, seeking your will for my life. (Matthew 6:33) while I memorize your promises. The Spirit of Truth (John 16:13), who lives in me will guide each step I take.
Your Word is my sword that I can use to fight sin in my life. (Hebrews 4:12) Your Word teaches me and corrects me. It is good for all things that have to do with my living in your perfect plans for me. (2 Timothy 3:16–17, Jeremiah 29:11)
In this waiting, I can tell others about your great love. (1John 1:1-4) You sent Jesus to die for all the sins of the world. In love, you gave up your only Son to die so we might have life eternal. (John 3:16) This knowledge leads me to fall on my knees in worship and praise. I thank you and rejoice in knowing Jesus as the horn of my salvation. (Luke 1:69)
You, O Lord, have prepared for me good works to do for you. (Ephesians 2:10) As I wait, I will seek to do your will in my life in loving obedience to you. (John 14:15) As I wait upon you to lead and guide me in this life, I want to be obedient to what you have set forth for me.
But - what I am waiting for is to meet you, my Savior, face to face. (1 Corinthians 13:12) When I do, there will be nothing separating us, and I will fall down in worship and praise at your feet. I will rejoice in the Savior of the World. Psalm 118:24 I will sing and shout Hallelujah—our God Reigns. Let all the earth declare His glory. (Revelation 19:6-7)
So, as I wait, I will be strong in your strength. (Ephesians 6:10) I will take courage in your promises. (Joshua 1:9) For while I am waiting, you are working. (John 5:17, Romans 8:28) I will fix my eyes upon you for you, alone are the Savior of the World. (John 4:42) Amen
