Have you ever considered the healing you are given by the wounds that were inflicted on Jesus, our Lord and Savior? Isaiah 53:5 tells us, “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
As I dwell upon this verse and all Jesus endured for me, the Lord brings me to the cross to see how the wounds of my Savior bring healing to me.
Jesus’ body was beaten, torn apart, penetrated, and punctured in many ways. From head to toe, He endured torture for me.
His robes were torn off of Him. His hands were held by restraint. His back was torn asunder by the whips used on Him.
The crown of thorns pushed into His head. The spit of man hurled at Him. The cross laid on His torn-apart body. He was to carry it Himself to Golgotha. The nails used through His hands and feet pierced them as the sword pierced His side. All these endured for me to pay the price of sin God demanded.
Yet there was so much more He paid for as He died. He endured emotional distraught when God turned His back on Him. Covered with our sins was our Savior.
Jesus died so we might live and have peace with God the Father. All that He endured for us has healed us from within. He has given us His robes of righteousness. We are called Children of God.
He died and made sin dead to us. He rose and defeated death for us. By grace, we are given everlasting life when we put our faith in Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Let us come and bow down before the Lord, Our God. Let us worship only Him, for Jesus, our Savior has given us life forever through all He endured for us.
